Ulster Brass

ulster-brass

Ulster Brass is one of Ireland's leading brass groups, formed in the early eighties; the ensemble is made up of principal members of the Ulster Orchestra. Their ethos is to bring their own enjoyment of performing music to a high standard, to as wide an audience as possible.

The group has performed extensively for both BBC radio and TV, as well as contributing to prestigious festivals such as the Two Cathedrals, St Anne’s Summer festival and The Belfast Festival at Queens. The group has toured the south of Ireland extensively for Music Network.

The ensemble has been very successful in recent years developing an interactive musical role for schools, community bands and choirs in their programmes, as well as performing to senior citizens and visiting hospitals.

The five members of Ulster Brass also spend a lot of time and energy developing the next generation of highly skilled brass musicians at institutions such as Queens University, University of Ulster, Campbell College, Bangor Grammar, Belfast school of Music and the Ulster Youth Orchestra as well as coaching local brass bands.
Ulster Brass is involved in developing new music in the brass field, and looks forward to promoting new works, as well as building on the success of their interactive showpiece for community music group and quintet by Peter Graham.

Ulster Brass looks forward to developing new and exciting ways of bringing music alive to as wide an audience as possible.
