7pm Pre-Concert talk with Tamás Kocsis and Christopher Wilkins (free of charge)
Leader of the Ulster Orchestra, Tamás Kocsis, brings his Hungarian roots to bear on his compatriot Béla Bartók’s Violin Concerto No.2, deeply-rooted in Hungarian folk music. Kodály takes the folk music theme further with his variations on the Hungarian folk tune, Fly, Peacock. The concert concludes where it began, in America, with Aaron Copland’s ‘wild west’ inspired ballet score.
