Three giants of the French musical world - and a Belgian! - are put through their paces by Courtney Lewis, who returns from his Associate Conductorship with the Minnesota Orchestra to conduct the Orchestra of his native city in Ravel’s homage to a French Baroque master. Fauré’s delicate song for cello and orchestra and Saint-Saëns’ colourful Cello Concerto No.1 are followed by the great Symphony in D minor by Belgium’s première musical son, César Franck.
