Saturday 04 Aug 2012 Royal Albert Hall, London 2pm £5–£36 This year at the BBC Proms, the national youth orchestras of Great Britain and Northern Ireland will perform with their ‘big brothers and sisters’ over the course of a weekend. The National Youth Orchestra of Scotland will perform jointly with the BBC Scottish Orchestra and the National Youth Orchestra of Wales will perform with the BBC Welsh Orchestra. The National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain will perform in the evening of 4 August, while that afternoon the Ulster Orchestra will perform jointly with the Ulster Youth Orchestra of Northern Ireland (making a combined orchestra of 153 players). Now in its 118th year, this will be the 11th time the UO has performed at the BBC Proms since 1985. The concert will also mark the Proms début of its Principal Conductor, JoAnn Falletta, and the world première of Elaine Agnew’s Dark Hedges.
