Puccini Preludio sinfonico 12’ Walton Façade Suite No.1 11’ Finzi Eclogue 9’ Rossini Overture: The Italian Girl in Algiers 9’
Renowned British pianist and conductor, Howard Shelley, performs the rarely heard Eclogue, a pastoral poem for piano and strings, by the British composer Gerald Finzi. There’s fun afoot with Walton’s ‘entertainment’ based on the poems of Edith Sitwell, and the concert opens and closes with orchestral offerings from two Italian operatic greats.
