An exciting first half of music for strings under the direction of one of the founders of the superb Takács Quartet.

Music for enjoyment: the infectious Hungarian rhythms and sounds of the Divertimento followed by an Argentine homage to Vivaldi with a fusion of tango, jazz and classical, played by the outstanding young Canadian virtuoso, Lara St John.

Music for sheer delight: in 1800, people complained about Beethoven’s excessive use of wind instruments in his First Symphony. How wrong they were!
