Embark on an epic musical odyssey in a once-in-a-generation performance of Mahler’s Second Symphony on 24 May at Belfast Waterfront Hall. Join 200 performers from the Ulster Orchestra and Belfast Philharmonic Choir and explore life, the universe and everything.

Of all the stories told in 2023/24, the Season Finale tackles the most fundamental – the question of existence itself. One of the largest symphonies ever written in terms of forces, length and harmonic scope, it starts in a contemplation of death and ends with soloists and chorus joining with the Orchestra in a phenomenal hymn of resurrection. It’s an incredible journey, and one that is only truly experienced in a live performance where you can feel the air shake.

Ulster Orchestra Music Director Daniele Rustioni conducts his final concert in a colossal musical event that embraces everything, so join Daniele, Ruby Hughes, Kai Rüütel, the Orchestra and Belfast Philharmonic Choir as they give their all to some of the most visionary music that Mahler ever composed.
